Palos Verdes Estates Police Department

About:  The mission of the PVEPD is to provide an assurance of safety, comfort and tranquility to the community; while in this endeavor maintaining the utmost in professionalism, competence, integrity and discipline.  In 1929, the first police chief was hired for Palos Verdes Estates (PVE).  William Woosley, police chief, worked out of one room in an office building in PVE.   In 1945, the PVEPD had six officers for the population of 1,100 residents.  At that time, the officers manned the fire trucks, fought fires and used their own cars for patrol. Today there are 25 sworn officers and the department is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
