About: The Kern Valley has some of the oldest cattle ranches in Kern County with a population close to 22,000 residents. The area is a popular vacation destination with the mountains and rivers. The population can swell to 50,000 on a holiday weekend. It is one of the most picturesque areas in Kern County. The staff of the substation includes 9 deputies, 1 Lieutenant, 1 Sergeant and 2 Senior Deputies. The deputies provide patrol but also offer assistance during floods, forest fires, snowstorms and other natural disasters. They also handle cattle thefts.
